Contrary to popular belief, this terrible festival is not some ancient tradition. It was actually invented back in 2010 as a way for dog meat traders to make more and more money. A lot of the dogs who are brought to the festival are actually stolen from their owners and also some still wear collars.

The methods in which dogs (and some cats) are killed are really unparalleled in cruelty around the world!

Andrea Gung, who is an executive director of Duo Duo Animal Welfare Project comments: “Even if this is a temporary ban, we hope this will have a domino effect, leading to the collapse of the entire dog meat trade.” She adds “This ban is consistent with my experience that Yulin and also the rest of the country is changing for the better”. We hope this ban will stay and all this cruelty to animals will stop! Every animal has a soul and every one counts!
