Family Lost Everything, But They Didn`t Leave Their Cat Behind

This family lost everything in war and had to move and leave everything behind. This people left everything but they did not leave their precious cat behind!

Ever since the civil war in Syria started in 2011, a more than half a million people lost their lives, and about 11 million people left the country looking for a better tomorrow. One such family, like so many others, walked hundreds of miles across Turkey and other countries. And that family, like no others, took their family pet cat with them. They just could not leave her behind in that horror.

This little kitty’s life started in the middle of the fights there. His mom was killed by a bomb just after he was born. Luckily, they found him and pulled him from the ruins of a bomb-ravaged house in Damascus. They gave him the name Tabboush, which means “chubby” in Arabic. When they realized they they had to flee their home and country, they walked hundreds of miles to get to Idomeni, Greece. They, of course, brought little Tabboush with them.

At the migrant camps, Tabboush brought joy and also a smile to the other families and children. Plenty people are living in tents, hoping for a better tomorrow. “He eats with us, drinks with us, sleeps with us and wakes up with us too,” the family says. “He is my life,” one of the younger girls in the family says. “I could not live without my Tabboush”.

Humanitarian workers are trying to locate them, to make sure they got to a safe place that they can call a home again. Unfortunately, due to the sheer numbers of families and people, they haven`t had luck yet. “He is a part of our family,” they said back in April. “We could never give him up or leave him behind”.
