Mama dog was depressed when her 7 puppies died in a barn fire. Then they showed her a litter of orphans and she does the most wonderful thing! She adopts them, of course!
Jessica Woodruff suffered the unspeakable when her barn caught fire in Roseberg, Oregon in the start of 2017. The fire took the lives of four goats and also a life of one pig. On top of all that, her beloved mama dog Daisy, a Great Pyrenees and border collie mix, lost her litter of seven 3 week old puppies.
Jessica went down to the barn, but it was too late by the time she got there. She held Daisy back as the mama dog tried to run into the burning flames to save her babies. “It all just happened within minutes,” Jessica says. “It is just so horrible”. She presumes that the fire was started by a heat lamp that was keeping the litter warm.
Mama dog Daisy lost all seven of her puppies. She became so depressed that she refused to eat. But perhaps the most heartbreaking thing of all was when she would walk herself down to the barn, just sit down there by the door, and whine.
Jessica wanted to do whatever she could to help Daisy to cope with her broken heart and to get better. So, she took to Facebook to see if there were any local orphan puppies who needed a foster home. A woman named Lorna Murphy responded and Daisy`s story got a turn for the better.
Lorna’s 5-year-old dog Chloe also died shortly after giving birth to a litter of eight adorable black and white puppies. So, Lorna and Jessica set up a meeting, and Daisy met the litter of the orphan puppies.
Then, the most beautiful thing happened. Daisy took the puppies as her own and started nursing them, The little puppies were also desperately needing some mother love and care, and finally, everybody were happy once again! Such a beautiful ending!
